Dispatch Desk: Showdown at Sherwin-Williams

The following incidents were gathered from reports filed Sept. 7-13, 2026, at the Arkadelphia Police Department and Clark County Sheriff’s Office. Arrested or cited individuals are presumed innocent until found guilty in a court of law. The Arkadelphian does not withhold names, so don’t even think about asking. 

Arkadelphia Police Department

Monday, Sept. 7

11:39 a.m.
A Clay Street man reported the theft of his temporary dealer tag from his vehicle.

Tuesday, Sept. 8

3:50 a.m.
Police were called to Carpenter Hill Apartments, 670 S. 6th St., for a woman’s report that she had been involved in a physical altercation with her girlfriend, who left prior to officers’ arrival. The caller was advised of how to prosecute the alleged offense.

4:05 a.m.
Officers were called to a residence at the 2400 block of Barkman Street for a domestic disturbance between a husband and wife. Police spoke with both parties, and made no arrest.

7:05 a.m.
Officers responded to a domestic disturbance between an unmarried couple at the 1400 block of Evans Street. After taking statements from the victim and observing physical injuries to her, officers arrested the suspect, Kelyn Lee Gilmer, 20, for 3rd-degree domestic battery.

10:40 a.m.
A South 25th Street woman reported the theft of a cell phone that had been left on her front porch two hours prior. She tracked the phone to several locations in town until the battery died.

7:43 p.m.
While taking driver statements about a parking lot accident at Celebrations, 1210 N. 10th St., the at-fault driver, 65-year-old David Lee Lock, of Sparkman, repeatedly interrupted the officer as he was taking the other driver’s account. Asked if he had consumed any alcohol, Lock admitted to drinking earlier, and submitted to a portable breath test. Based in its results, as well as other indicators that he was drunk, Lock was arrested for public intoxication.

Wednesday, Sept. 9

12:22 a.m.
Police were called to North 10th Street near Clark County Livestock Feed for a deputy’s report of a person lying on the side of the roadway. An ambulance responded when the person complained of a medical issue. With a search waiver on file, police searched his person for weapons or drugs as he passively resisted by rolling around on the ground and curling himself into a fetal position. Once the search was finished he was left in the care of the ambulance crew and taken to the hospital. Shortly thereafter officers were called there as he left the hospital without being discharged. He was located at Twin Rivers Drive and Cypress Road, and walked back to the hospital. Police remained on scene to prevent him from leaving, but he left his room and tried to push his way past officers. Police wrestled him to the floor and gave commands to put his hands behind his back, which he refused until Officer Ross Burroughs tasered him in the left hip. He was then placed in hand restraints until a doctor-prescribed medication took effect, and he was again left in the care of hospital staff. No arrest was made.

4 p.m.
Police were called to an Elaine Street residence for a report that a schizophrenic individual had walked away from the home. Police returned about six hours later and located the individual. He was taken by ambulance to a hospital for further evaluation and treatment.

Thursday, Sept. 10

9:25 a.m.
Officers responded to a dog fight on Mockingbird Lane, where a woman’s leashed dog dragged her to the ground, eventually escaping its harness to attack a neighbor’s dog. She was taken to a Hot Springs hospital for injuries. The neighbor, in separating the dogs, suffered a bite on his hand. Animal Control was made aware of the incident.

2:29 p.m.
Officers executed a search warrant at River Walk Apartments, 201 S. 1st St., locating a container of marijuana inside the residence. Jaden Elon Berry, 20, claimed ownership of the pot and was arrested on the charge of possession of a controlled substance. Two other individuals in the residence were banned from the property.

4 p.m.
A DoorDash driver reported she was bitten on the butt while making a delivery at a South 11th Street residence. The bite didn’t break the skin, but the complainant was concerned about the canine’s vaccinations. Animal Control was made aware of the incident, and took custody of the dog for a 10-day quarantine when the owner couldn’t produce vaccination records.

Police took a report of a missing person. The report is marked as a felony incident that remains under investigation, and includes no other details.

A female reported being verbally threatened by two known individuals. She was instructed on how to file charges.

Friday, Sept. 11

4:50 p.m.
A resident of Village Creek Apartments, 2811 Cypress Rd., reported the theft of the registration tab from her license plate.

8:01 p.m.
Police took a delayed report of theft at 16 and Gresham streets. The resident said someone, possibly an unnamed guest, took his government-issued cell phone more than two weeks ago.

Saturday, Sept. 12

8:12 p.m.
Police were summoned to a Main Street residence for a complaint of someone violating a no-contact order. One person was escorted from the property. No arrest was made.

Sunday, Sept. 13

12:09 p.m.
Officers were called to Sherwin-Williams, 1305 Pine St., for a store employee’s complaint that a customer had attacked him during a disagreement over paint. The employee said the customer — dissatisfied with the response that a stain would not work on an improperly prepared cabinet door he brought in as a sample — threw a quart-sized can of stain at the employee, hitting him on the side of the head before the employee wrestled the customer to the ground. The employee said he wanted the customer banned from the store. Given a description of the suspect and his vehicle, police made a traffic stop at 2nd and Caddo streets and observed multiple cuts and scrapes to the man’s ear and arm. The customer gave a differing account of the incident, saying the verbal altercation led to him throwing a sanding pad at the employee, who in turn picked up a cabinet door and struck him multiple times. Officers photographed his injuries, which an ambulance crew assessed before deeming him safe to drive his own vehicle to the hospital. No arrest was made, as police noted in their reporting that both parties provided conflicting stories and that the employee had cleaned the scene prior to police arrival.
