A Hot Spring County man landed $400,000 in lottery winnings, and two other Arkansans won big prizes in the July 21 Mega Millions® drawing.
Jamie W. from Hot Spring County won $400,000 in the June 18 Play It Again® Second-Chance drawing, proving that Arkansans can still win big with previously non-winning instant tickets through The Club, a members-only program that offers cash drawings and other special second-chance promotions and rewards.
Jamie was working in Mountain View when he received a call from an Arkansas Scholarship Lottery representative informing him of the win. A loyal lottery player, he had routinely entered his tickets into The Club for Points for Drawings and Play It Again entries for a chance to win alternative prizes. Still, the news came as a shock.
“I was in disbelief at first,” Jamie told lottery officials. “I started getting weak in the knees!”
After returning from work late that night, Jamie checked the official AR Lottery + Club app and, sure enough, found he had won the $400,000 prize.
If he was tired before, the big win gave Jamie a rush of adrenaline. He immediately called his wife to share the good news. Though barely awake, she initially struggled to believe his luck. However, she soon joined in the celebration.
“He was up all night after that!” his wife shared.
Before the second-chance drawing, Jamie’s biggest prize was $500. However, he always believed the big day would come.
“I was telling my buddies for a long time, ‘I’m going to win the lottery,’” Jamie shared. Second only to his wife, Jamie’s friends were among the first to hear about his win.
Jamie plans to invest and save some of his winnings. He also intends to continue playing lottery games occasionally, with encouragement from his wife.
“You’re lucky!” she laughed.
The next Play It Again Second-Chance drawing is Oct. 8, and the prize is $250,000. For a list of eligible instant games and their entry deadlines, visit The Club’s Drawings & Winners page.
A winning Mega Millions ticket worth $30,000 was sold at Tobacco 4-Less #2, 2121 Batesville Blvd., in Batesville. Another winning ticket, also worth $30,000, was purchased at Quick Shop, 1325 S. Caraway Road, in Jonesboro.
The winning numbers were 25, 37, 59, 68 and 70, and the Mega Ball® number was 10. These tickets are currently unclaimed. The winners have 180 days from the draw date to claim their prizes.
