HOPE — Anna Lee Powell, President of the Hempstead County Economic Development Corporation released the statement below following the sudden announcement of the closing of Hope Baking Company:
Hempstead County Economic Development is saddened by the announcement that Hope Baking will cease operations, resulting in the loss of approximately 250 jobs in our community. According to information shared with employees, employment is expected to end on July 25th, following a notification distributed through the company’s employee portal on the evening of July 18.
“Our thoughts are with the employees, their families, and everyone affected by this difficult news,” said Anna Powell President of Hempstead County Economic Development. “The closure of a major employer has a significant impact on our economy and community, and we recognize the uncertainty many families are facing.”
