The Southern Standard: Sex offender arrested at Glenwood park

A Malvern sex offender was arrested after an officer spotted his van leaving John Benjamin Park in Glenwood.

According to an affidavit filed by Stacy Watson of the Glenwood Police Department, he ran the license plate on a van leaving the park and noted that it returned to Steven Beckowith, a registered sexual offender. Following the suspect to Glenwood Plaza, Watson spoke with the suspect, who told him that his offender level had not yet been determined. A call to authorities, however, put his status at Level 3, which he is appealing.

Beckowith was then taken into custody and charged with entering the park, which is not legal for a sexual offender. The officer then spoke to Beckowith’s employer, who was not aware he was a sexual offender.
