Weather-related closure? Let The Arkadelphian know

white snow flakes on white sand

In anticipation of a winter storm Friday, Jan. 23, 2026, The Arkadelphian hopes to inform its readers of all local weather-related closures, cancellations and postponements. Email official closings to editor@arkadelphian.com. Please be as detailed as possible. While we will check several Facebook pages throughout the coming days for closures, we will not see them all. Likewise, your organization’s Facebook page likely does not receive thousands of daily visitors as does arkadelphian.com, so we encourage participation in communicating closures with Clark County’s only daily news source.

This is a working list. Check back later for updates. Here are the latest closures that we know of:

DeGray Lake

DeGray Lake Resort State Park’s annual Eagles Et Cetera festival and all related events have been canceled.

Public schools

Ouachita Public Schools will be closed Monday.

Arkadelphia Public Schools will be closed Monday.

Gurdon Public Schools will be closed Monday.

Universities

Henderson State University offices are closed and classes are canceled through Monday, Jan. 26.

Ouachita Baptist University offices are closed and classes are canceled through Monday.

Government

The Arkadelphia Recreation Center will close at 5 p.m. Friday.

Restaurants, Retail, Etc.

JavaPrimo Coffee House will close at 3 p.m. Friday.

Ludwig’s Bakery will be closed Saturday, Jan. 24.

Shuffield Music Store is closed Friday.

All Southern Bancorp locations will be closed Saturday, Jan. 24.

Knit Unto Others will close Friday at noon.

The Bee Hive will be closed Saturday, Jan. 24.

Arkadelphian.com will most likely not publish much news, as the editor will be taking advantage of the perfect sledding conditions.

Warming Centers

There will be at least four warming centers throughout the county (Arkadelphia, Caddo Valley, Gurdon, Whelen Springs) that will be opened in the event of extended power outages. We will list those addresses once officials say they are open.
