Ten counties in South Arkansas are now under a county judge-issued burn ban, according to the latest Wildfire Danger and Burn Ban map posted by the Arkansas Forestry Division.

The latest map, effective the afternoon of Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2026, includes Montgomery, Polk, Howard, Sevier, Hempstead, Miller, Lafayette, Columbia, Dallas and Ashley counties.

All 75 of the state’s counties remain under a Moderate risk for wildfire danger, the second of four risk levels based on fuel conditions, drought status and long-term weather forecasts. A Moderate risk means that a fire can start from accidental causes and, though they may not become serious, caution should be taken.
