Crash with fire hydrant leaves young woman dead in Rison

A car collision with a fire hydrant early Saturday left a South Arkansas woman dead, according to Arkansas State Police.

A preliminary fatal crash report says 19-year-old Destiny Amya Watts, of New Edinburg, was driving eastbound in a 2004 Toyota Camry when the vehicle left Amis Street in Rison and struck a fire hydrant. The vehicle ultimately overturned and ejected Watts, who died at the scene.

Investigating Trooper James Reed recorded the time of the crash as 2:35 a.m. Nov. 29, 2025. Reed noted clear weather and dry roads at the time of the crash.

Watts’s body was taken to Buie Funeral Home.
