Teen driver hurt after leading state trooper on chase in Hot Spring County

OAK GROVE, Arkansas — A juvenile was hospitalized following a pursuit with Arkansas State Police.

The 17-year-old driver was reportedly traveling Saturday afternoon, Nov. 22, on Arkansas Highway 84 near the Hot Spring County community of Oak Grove when a state trooper attempted to stop the teenager for a traffic violation. The young driver refused to stop and instead fled, prompting a pursuit that ended when the trooper executed a tactical vehicle intervention (TVI).

The TVI caused the suspect’s 2007 Chevrolet Silverado to veer off the highway and collide with a large tree, according to a statement released by ASP.

The young driver was transported by ambulance to CHI St. Vincent Hospital in Hot Springs for injuries suffered in the crash.

As of Tuesday morning the driver was in stable condition, ASP said.
