Wet days ahead for Arkadelphia: NWS

A weather pattern is shaping up for plenty of rain for Arkansas beginning mid next week.

As of Friday, Nov. 14, the National Weather Service in Little Rock was forecasting several rounds of showers, and perhaps thunderstorms, across the state in coming days, with a widespread chance of 2-4 inches of rainfall possible and locally higher amounts possible.

A pair of NWS prediction maps show, between Wednesday and Friday, a probability of rain amounts exceeding either more than 2 inches or more than 4 inches. One prediction places the Arkadelphia area at a 57% chance for more than 2 inches of rain, and another place the area at a 21% chance for more than 4 inches of rain.

Until then, dry and abnormally warm conditions will persist, with somewhat cooler temperatures early next week ahead of the potential rain.

The extended forecast for the Arkadelphia area calls for sunny skies and a high near 78 for Saturday’s Battle of the Ravine. Daytime highs will consistently be in the 70s through at least Tuesday, with nighttime lows in the 50s through Sunday.

Rain chances begin Monday with a 20% chance of rainfall, then increase to 60% by Wednesday and 70% by Thursday.
