Millage question draws few voters on first day of early voting

ARKADELPHIA — Wednesday marked the first day of early voting in a special election to decide whether residents of the Arkadelphia Public School district support higher property and real estate taxes in order to fund a 30-year debt to build a new high school.

Representing about 1.6% of the 9,221 registered voters living within the school district, 154 ballots had been cast by the time polls closed on the first day of early voting.

Early voting continues each weekday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Arkadelphia Recreation Center, 2555 Twin Rivers Dr. The election takes place Tuesday, Nov. 18, from 7:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., also at the Recreation Center.
