Troy Raymond Runyan, age 84, of Arkadelphia, passed from this life on Friday, July 11, 2025 at The Atrium in Hot Springs. He was born October 20, 1940, in Amity, and the son of the late Thurston William and Chloie Mae Lambert Runyan.
Troy was a beloved husband, father, and Papa. Troy was a graduate of Amity High School, and completed the apprentice program with Reynolds Metal Company and he retired from Reynolds after many years of service. Troy also worked at the Hallmark store with his wife, and at Williams Saw Company. He spent many years with the clients at Group Living, which he considered his most meaningful work. He was a faithful member of Baring Cross Baptist Church where he served as a deacon, mowed many yards, chauffeured members to their appointments, and enjoyed being an adopted Dad to his MBSF children. Troy enjoyed time spent outdoors riding his tractor, camping, and fishing in his free time. His children say that he could also fix anything and loved tinkering with the tiller and restoring old lawn mowers.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one granddaughter, Staci Smith, one sister-in-law, Judy Armstrong (Thomas), and brothers-in-law Tommy Webb, Russell Goodyear, Phillip Roberts, and Tommy Toler.
Troy is survived by his wife of sixty-five years, Wanda Shuffield Runyan of Arkadelphia, one son, Dwayne Runyan (Sherry) of Beebe, two daughters, Vickie Hensley (Charles) of Oklahoma City, OK, and Melissa McClure (Bobby) of Princeton, TX, three sisters, Estalene Webb of Alpine, Veda Goodyear of Arkadelphia, and Nellene Roberts of Arkadelphia, one brother, Keith Runyan (Connie) of Arkadelphia, one sister-in-law, Brenda Durand (Clarence) of Hot Springs, nine grandchildren, Candace Looper (Nathan), Sarah Hensley, Christine Chang (Daniel), Mark Runyan, Brad Runyan, Joshua McClure (Kameron), Kristen Luciano (Jakob), Megan Jones (Grant), and April Smith, and twelve great-grandchildren with one more on the way.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, July 15, 2025, at Baring Cross Missionary Baptist Church (1511 Walnut St. Arkadelphia, AR) with Bro. Ronnie Hardin officiating.
Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Monday at the church.
Interment will be in Rest Haven Memorial Gardens.
The Runyan family finds comfort knowing that Troy loved the Lord with all his heart. Although Troy will be greatly missed we know he is no longer suffering, and is at peace with Jesus.
