Governor appoints OBU professor to state board

LITTLE ROCK, Arkansas — Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders this week announced appointments to various state boards and commissions.

Among the 46 appointments is Dr. Detri Brech, of Arkadelphia, to the Arkansas Dietetics Licensing Board.

Brech is a professor of dietetics at Ouachita Baptist University’s Charles and Elma Grey Goodwin Holt Chair of Dietetics and Pre-Medical Studies. Brech has taught at OBU since 2000 and is also a 1984 Ouachita graduate.

The purpose of the Arkansas Dietetics Licensing Board (ADLB) is to protect the health, safety, and welfare of the public. This is accomplished by providing for the licensing and regulation of persons engaged in the practice of dietetics as established by the Dietetics Practice Act in l989.

The Arkansas Dietetics Licensing Board members appointed by the governor meet regularly to process new and renewal licensure applications. The state of Arkansas currently licenses over 1,300 dietitians in the state.
