ARKADELPHIA — An afternoon thunderstorm Tuesday, May 6, 2025 brought along with it a strike of lightning that hit Reynolds Science Center on the campus of Henderson State University.
The lightning strike left a hole in the facility’s roof and mainly impacted the attic. University officials said no one was in the area at the time of the strike, and faculty will communicate further instructions for students who have finals scheduled in that building this week.
Facilities management with Nabholz responded to apply a temporary roof covering until university officials can further assess the damages.
The lightning struck the building at about 2:20 p.m.
