False report of sex crime comes back on Gum Springs man
A scheme to blame someone for sex crimes backfired on a Gum Springs man who gave police a false tip about sexual and physical abuse.
Colton Jeffrey Pipkin, 30, allegedly submitted a report to the Arkansas State Police child abuse hotline on Dec. 13, 2024. The report “involved an alleged sexual assault of a juvenile by an adult female and the beating of the same child by the same adult.”
The tip was referred to a Clark County Sheriff’s Office child abuse investigator, who phoned Pipkin to discuss the matter but learned through Pipkin’s confession that he had lied about the report, apparently because he was upset with law enforcement and the judicial system for serving him with no-contact orders that mandate he stay away from the juvenile and mother.
Pipkin has been arrested several times in recent months for various misdemeanor charges, including harassment and domestic battery.
Pipkin faces a Class D felony for filing the false report. A conviction could land him behind bars for up to 6 years and/or a fine of up to $10,000.
Arkadelphia man accused of injuring female during altercation
Arkadelphia police were called Nov. 13, 2024, to Baptist Health Medical Center, where a female was being treated for injuries she said were caused during an altercation with Robert Noel Block, 38, of Arkadelphia.
Block reportedly became irate during an argument, ultimately slamming a door on the woman’s arm as she attempted to leave the residence, then “rested his body against the door” in an apparent effort to prevent her from leaving.
Block would later offer a confession to the allegations but denied acting maliciously.
He’s charged with felony third-degree Domestic Battery and Terroristic Threatening, both Class D felonies punishable by up to 6 years in prison and/or a fine of up to $10,000. Block is also being charged with False Imprisonment and first-degree Interference with Emergency Communications, both Class A misdemeanors that carry a jail sentence of up to 1 year, as well as Endangering the Welfare of a Minor, a Class B misdemeanor.
Pre-dawn prowler complaint leads to drug arrest
A 4 a.m. complaint of a man knocking at a door led police to find a wanted parolee wearing two pairs of sweat pants loaded with drugs and paraphernalia on Jan. 25.
Arkadelphia officers responded to an apartment complex at 724 S. 10th Street to find 25-year-old Dreyden De’mon Johnson, of Little Rock. Johnson told police he had been given permission to stop by the residence, but running his name through a criminal database led to the discovery that he had an active parole warrant.
Detained and searched for contraband, police ultimately found two small bags of suspected methamphetamine, as well as digital scales and other paraphernalia in the pockets of the two pairs of pants Johnson was wearing. Another set of scales and more paraphernalia were discovered in a backpack Johnson had been wearing.
Johnson was arrested at the scene, and the suspected narcotics field-tested positive for meth and weighed 2.02 grams.
He is being charged with Possession of a Schedule I/II Controlled Substance, a Class D felony punishable by up to 6 years in prison and/or a fine of up to $10,000. Johnson was also charged with misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.
