Gerald LaDauit Henry, age 83, gained his wings after a long fight with dementia, February 1, 2025, at the JBER Hospital in Anchorage, Alaska. Gerald was born to LaDauit Henry and Edna Spearence on January 17, 1942, in Onieda, New York.
A memorial service for Gerald and his late wife Jenny will be February 22, 2025, 11 am Sunny Knik Chaple, 10774 S Knik Goose Bay Rd, Wasilla, Alaska with Pastor Duane Guisnger officiating.
Gerald Served in the US Army Corps in Korea and Vietnam from March 25, 1960 to February 21, 1963, with honorable discharge. He was a sharpshooter, and expert gunner. Gerald and Jenny married December 1999. We lost her May 30, 2024. After their wedding, Gerald and Jenny lived in Knik from 2000 to 2002. They left state, then returned in 2016, and made their home in Wasilla, Alaska. Both were members of the Sunny Knik Chapel in Knik, Alaska.
Gerald loved animals of all kinds. From squirrels, owls, dogs, horses. All creatures. He worked the log woods in Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama with teams of draft horses and mules. He would take in wounded wild creatures, and nurse them back to health. He loved gardening, and woodworking. He and Jeannette built their cabin in Knik together. Gerald loved talking to anyone about anything. His children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren brought him lots of Joy.
Gerald is survived by his son Jerry Henry (Rebecca) of Wasilla, Tonya Smith (Gary) of Arkansas, Shawna May (Jimmy) of Arkansas. Grandchildren: Jeremy, Justin, Briana, Stewart, Derik, Charity, Caleb and Cole. And 15 great grandchildren.
Arrangements were made by Valley Funeral Home, Wasilla, Alaska.
