A pair of 911 calls regarding a fight sent police to the southernmost parking lot at Walnut Square Apartments, 1010 S. 16th St. Police spoke with one caller, who said he investigated a commotion outside, and as he approached was struck in the face by a man in a gold-colored hoodie. The officer observed a person matching that description walking between apartments toward officers speaking with another party, 18-year-old Damaria Montrel Hendrix, of Bryant, who had also been struck in the face. Hendrix, unsteady on his feet and with slurred speech, was transported to the jail for public intoxication. An off-duty deputy went to an apartment to speak with Hendrix’s brother, Javion Montrelle Brown, 21, of Arkadelphia. The deputy was met with resistance at the doorway, where a female pushed him back and an agitated Brown exited, still cursing and yelling. After making a comment that he would “crack” an officer, Brown was instructed to surrender to arrest but instead became combative. Officers took Brown to the ground, but he freed himself and stood up. Officer Aaron Abbot then tasered Brown in the side torso, allowing police to safely handcuff him. Brown was arrested on charges of second-degree terroristic threatening, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest.
