A Magnolia man was acquitted last week on a murder charge.
Jurors deliberates about 3 ½ hours on Wednesday, December 11, 2024 before finding Alando Caldwell, 44, “not guilty” of first-degree murder in the death of Craig Lovell Phillips Jr., 31, of Fayetteville, NC.
David Price, Caldwell’s attorney, said that the shooting arose from an act of self defense and that Phillips’ death was accidental.
Caldwell was arrested August 18, 2023 after the shooting at a family reunion at the Free Hope Community Center east of Magnolia.
A probable cause affidavit written by Arkansas State Police Special Agent Adam Pinner said that Caldwell and Kawavin Jamerson got into an argument at the reunion.
