It’s the most wonderful time of the year, and the City of Arkadelphia is ready to celebrate!
City officials are excited to announce the holiday event schedule for the 2024 season, featuring
festive events throughout December:
Feaster Trail With Lights
Prancer’s Plaza has a new home this year! The holiday storefront display is now set up along the 26th Street entrance of Feaster Trail. The display, designed by Little Rock-based Lights By Sparky, features a 500-foot walk-through light experience along Feaster Trail.
“We’ve been looking for ways to engage Feaster Trail in our events, and this was the perfect opportunity,” said Special Events Manager Halle Mann. “The storefronts look amazing, and the lights will offer a fun, festive way for residents to enjoy the season.”
“Feaster Trail With Lights!” will be on display throughout December at the 26th Street entrance of Feaster Trail.
Feaster Trail lighting event
The “Feaster Trail With Lights!” display will officially open on Monday, December 2, at 5:00 p.m. The lighting event will kick off the holiday season with a celebration featuring holiday carols and the official lighting of the trail.
Storefront sponsor Veolia will provide free hot chocolate during the event. Residents and visitors are encouraged to park at the Recreation Center and walk over to the display to experience the lights.
Blitzen’s Bargain Market
No holiday season is complete without Blitzen’s Bargain Market! Hosted by the Parks and Recreation Department, this annual event will take place on Saturday, Dec. 14, from 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. at the Recreation Center.
With 50+ vendors already signed up, the market will feature a wide range of holiday gifts and treats. This year, Recreation Center staff is introducing a passport-style raffle. Upon arrival, attendees will receive a “passport” to guide them through the event. Completed passports will be entered into a raffle, with drawings held each hour. Winners will receive a gift basket filled with items donated by event vendors.
“We love hosting this event for the community—it’s like turning the Rec Center into Santa’s workshop for the day,” said Recreation Center Operations Manager Alicia Nichols. “It’s one of my favorite days of the year and a great chance to pick up last-minute holiday gifts or stocking stuffers.”
Vendor applications are still being accepted. To sign up, vendors can CLICK HERE (this is the only registration link for Blitzen’s Bargain Market).
Holiday 5K
On Saturday, Dec. 14, at 5 p.m., the City of Arkadelphia will host its first-ever Holiday 5K. The route will follow a similar path to the city’s Turkey Trot 5K but will take place in the evening to allow participants to enjoy the holiday light display on Feaster Trail.
Runners are encouraged to wear festive outfits, including holiday lights and crazy Christmas sweaters. The Holiday 5K is sponsored by Patterson Federal Credit Union.
“Nicole McGough at Patterson Federal Credit Union has been an invaluable guide as we start hosting 5Ks and other fun runs,” said Halle Mann. “We’re grateful for her expertise and Patterson’s support.”
Registration for the Holiday 5K is now open. Runners who register by December 8 will pay a $30 registration fee, while same-day registrants will pay $40. To sign up, participants can CLICK HERE (this is the only registration link for the Holiday 5K).
