Building Permits: Central Primary set for demolition

Editor’s note: One permit filed in October is included in this monthly report.

The City of Arkadelphia issued 11 building permits with an estimated construction value of $831,025 for the month of September 2024.

The estimated year-to-date value of construction jobs in Arkadelphia now totals more than $10.45 million.

Records were obtained from the city’s Building Department under the Freedom of Information Act and include valuations of work except where omitted from reports. Here’s a rundown of permits issued in September 2024.

Roger Wingfield, new owner of the city block that housed the former Central Primary School campus, filed for a permit to demolish the school buildings, a total of 75,521-SF of space. No contractor is listed on the permit. The estimated cost to raze the buildings is listed as $300,000.

Wingfield bought the property from Arkadelphia Public Schools after the district accepted a $215,000 offer on the building and land, which comprises an entire city block.

The property was officially deeded to RK Wing Central LLC on Sept. 30, 2024, according to records at the Clark County Circuit Clerk’s Office. The permit to demolish the buildings was filed on Oct. 2. Buildings permits are valid for 180 days from the date of filing.

Wingfield has not publicly said what his intentions are for the property.

Craft Properties LLC, owned by Keith and Shelley Craft, is building a new home at 229 N. 27th St. Construction of the 1,356-SF single-family dwelling is expected to cost about $260,000.

The City of Arkadelphia contracted Seale Construction Co. to add a lean-to shed to an airport hangar at Dexter Florence Memorial Field. Cost of the project rang up as $125,000.

Randy and Lori Stewart hired Richard Womack’s construction company to renovate a fire-damaged apartment at 2 Ashbury Court #4. That project was estimated to cost $40,000.

State Farm Insurance at 620 Pine St. filed to erect a new sign. Everbrite charged $9,500 for the job.

CDTP Investments LLC, registered to Gary Plyler of Gurdon, is adding internal walls and cubicles to Suite 10 at the plaza located at 2607 Caddo St. The project is costing $17,000.
