Dispatch Desk: Aug. 12-18

The following incidents were gathered from reports filed at the Arkadelphia Police Department and Clark County Sheriff’s Office. Names of arrested individuals were collected at the Clark County Detention Center on Crittenden Street in Arkadelphia. They are presumed innocent until found guilty in a court of law. The Arkadelphian does not withhold names from the arrest log, so don’t even think about asking.

Monday, Aug. 12
8:25 a.m.
An employee at LeVar Law Firm, 702 Caddo St., reported someone had slipped two one-dollar bills beneath an exterior door during the weekend. The responding officer took the notes and logged them into evidence.

11:42 a.m.
A woman reported a known female threatened her over the phone. The complainant was advised of warrant procedures and how to obtain a no contact order.

Tuesday, Aug. 13
12:20 a.m.
A Clay Street man reported an unknown motorist struck his vehicle parked in the driveway, causing damage to the rear bumper. The motorist left the scene without reporting the accident.

5:11 a.m.
Following officers’ response to a domestic disturbance at 504 S. 10th St., Johnny Russey, 41, of Arkadelphia, was arrested for domestic battery, violation of a no contact order, intimidating a witness and four counts of endangering the welfare of a minor.

3:49 p.m.
A Powder Mill Apartments man reported a possible breaking or entering to his residence. The perpetrator damaged a door jamb but apparently left empty-handed.

5:24 p.m.
An Amity woman reported an unknown motorist struck her vehicle parked at Walmart, causing damage to a rear quarter panel and the rear bumper. The suspect driver fled the scene without reporting the accident. Police found no evidence at the scene that could help identify the vehicle or driver.

Wednesday, Aug. 14
6 a.m.
A Mill Creek Drive man reported a breaking or entering to his vehicle. The perpetrator broke the rear window, but apparently left without taking anything of value, including the several tools that were in the vehicle.

11:30 a.m.
Brandon Wayne Burns, 29, of Fouke, was arrested in the parking lot at Walmart for theft of property and a felony warrant issued out of Texas. Officers were dispatched to the supermarket for a store report of a pair of suspected shoplifters believed to have been responsible for the theft of $2,000 worth of merchandise at Malvern’s Walmart the previous day. A loss prevention officer followed the pair as they allegedly fled with $124 worth of jewelry, clothing and pool items to a U-Haul truck. An arresting officer was able to block the U-Haul with his patrol car to make the arrest. Meagan Dawn Heinrich, 32, of Texarkana, was also arrested, for possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia following a search of the U-Haul that yielded meth and glass pipes.

12:30 p.m.
A person hired to clean up vacant residents at Carpenter Hill Apartments reported a recently evicted tenant had been harassing him for removing their stuff.

5:43 p.m.
A water heater was reported stolen from a rent house on Main Street.

Police investigated a theft of property valued between $1,000-$5,000 at the 200 block of North 10th Street. No additional details are available as felony incident reports are not subject to public inspection at the Arkadelphia Police Department.

Thursday, Aug. 15
Juvenile report: Endangering the welfare of a minor 3rd degree

2:01 p.m.
A Caddo Valley woman reported the possible theft of a license plate from her vehicle, which she had left at Tony’s Auto Sales, 100 N. 26th St., for two months in order to sell the vehicle. With no interested buyers, the complainant retrieved the vehicle but was unable to locate the license plate.

Friday, Aug. 16
Juvenile report: Information only

2:49 p.m.
Brandi M. Armstrong, 33, of Arkadelphia, was cited at Walmart for theft of property and criminal trespass following a store complaint of a shoplifter who scanned items in her cart but didn’t pay for the merchandise.

Police investigated the theft of a motor vehicle at Elliston Place Apartments. No further details were available as the public isn’t allowed to review felony incident reports at the Arkadelphia Police Department.

Saturday, Aug. 17
Juvenile report: Felony domestic battery 3rd degree

4:17 a.m.
Barney Herbert Humphries, 60, of Bismarck, was arrested at Baptist Health Medical Center for public intoxication. At Humphries’s request earlier that morning he had been taken to the hospital by a Hot Spring County deputy sheriff, but upon discharge staff didn’t want him to leave the hospital due to his level of apparent intoxication. Refusing the option to phone a relative or friend to pick him up or the opportunity to prove his sobriety, he was taken into custody.

Juvenile report: Assault on a family or household member 2nd degree

Wednesday, Aug. 14
12:25 a.m.
Deputies were summoned to a residence at the 1000 block of DeGray Road for a domestic disturbance that had happened earlier on Cedar Grove Road. The complainant reported a known male had attacked her there before she was able to escape. A deputy advised the lady not to return to her residence and that the sheriff’s office did not have the resources to hold the suspect that night; he was to be picked up in the daytime. No further action was taken.

Friday, Aug. 16
2:41 p.m.
A deputy took a report of a civil dispute involving the removal and scrapping of a vehicle from a South 3rd Street, Arkadelphia, residence. Both parties were advised it was a civil matter.
