Cause still unknown in Tuesday attic fire

Three firefighting agencies converged Tuesday evening on a house fire in Arkadelphia.

The cause is still unknown; a report released by the Arkadelphia Fire Department indicates that the blaze started in the attic.

At 7:19 p.m. on July 16, 2024, AFD was dispatched to 308 N. 15th St. for a fire in progress. Upon arrival firemen saw flames coming from the eaves of the home’s facade.

Once entry was made firefighters pulled ceiling down to spray water in the attic space, then located the attic access and continued spraying water at the fire in the attic.

The perimeter of the home itself was cordoned off on Wednesday. The property belongs to the Frank D. Mitchell Revocable Trust, according to online real estate records.
