The annual Keeping DeGray Lake Beautiful cleanup day is set for Saturday, Sept. 21, 2024, from 9 a.m. until noon.
The organization is seeking volunteers of anyone who cares about public lands — Scout groups, school and employee groups, fishing and scuba clubs, church groups, individuals and more.
Registration is from 8-9 a.m. at the Lower Lake Recreation Area, where volunteers may pick up trash bags and receive assignments.
There are Litter Getter awards presented to volunteers by random drawing, as well as the Most Unusual Item award for the most unusual item found during the cleanup.
Free lunch and prizes will be available to volunteers from noon until 2 p.m. at the Lower Lake Area. Food and prizes, live music and games will be provided by local merchants.
Recycling will also take place at the event. Take aluminum cans, ink jet cartridges and cell phones to the cleanup.
Sponsorship opportunities are also available. To participate or sponsor, contact Russ Johnson at 501-256-4262.
With sponsorships, Keeping DeGray Lake Beautiful aspires to construct a handicap fishing pier on the lake. Donations can be mailed to KDLB, 134 Iron Mountain Marina Dr., Arkadelphia, AR 71923.
