Camden man wins $50,000 prize playing Instant Game

One lucky Arkansan won his second big lottery prize last week by playing an instant game.

Carter D., a Camden resident, won $50,000 playing the $20 $50,000 Blast instant game. He claimed his prize at the Arkansas Scholarship Lottery Claim Center on June 14.

The winning ticket was purchased at Camden AZ Mart on 650 Lincoln Drive in Camden.

Carter is a weekly lottery player with a preference for scratch-offs. Though he plays regularly, he does not have a favorite game or retailer. Instead, he purchases tickets from various gas stations, always scratching them off with a loose quarter. During a recent gas stop, the Camden man followed his “gut feeling” and purchased a $50,000 Blast ticket.

“I just liked the look of it and said, ‘Just go on ahead,’” Carter told lottery officials.

The Camden man’s purchase soon proved lucky. Later that same day, Carter scratched off his ticket and saw he had won the $50,000 top prize.

“Oh my God,” he thought.

Excited, he shared the news with his dad, who later accompanied him to the claim center. Carter’s father, also a lottery player, noted that Carter was no stranger to winning big: last November, he also won the $10,000 top prize on another instant game.

“I told him he needs to play one where the top prize is a million,” Carter’s dad laughed.

Carter plans to save his winnings.

Following Carter’s win, three top prizes remain on the $50,000 Blast instant game.
