Severe weather possible Friday; more rain to follow

Strong to severe thunderstorms will be possible Friday afternoon into the evening, the National Weather Service in Little Rock said.

All modes of severe weather will be possible — the highest threat being quarter-sized hail and damaging winds — with the highest confidence for severe weather across the northwestern half of the state. The NWS isn’t ruling out the potential for “a tornado or two” in the impacted area.

Multiple storm systems are expected to impact Arkansas through the weekend. Excessive rainfall will also be a concern, which will increase the risk for flash flooding through Sunday.

The possibility of severe weather will continue into Saturday, but is expected primarily west of the Arkadelphia area; again, all modes of severe weather will be possible.

Portions of Clark County could receive 2-3 inches of rainfall between Thursday and Sunday.
