Judge Randy Hill

Longtime District Court Judge Randy Hill will serve an additional four-year term following a victory Tuesday over challenger and deputy prosecutor Greg Vardaman, 2,095-1,068.

Hill claimed 66% of the 3,163 votes cast in that election.

“I thank the citizens of Clark County for their continued support and look forward to serving them as district judge,” Hill said after the win.

Hill had not campaigned for the bench since he was elected in the late 1990s. “It was the first campaign I’ve ever been involved in personally,” he said. “It was an interesting experience to say the least.”

Vardaman issued a concession statement from his home in Arkadelphia: “First and foremost, I want to thank God. Without Him, nothing is possible. I am very grateful to my family, campaign staff and volunteers, and those that trusted in me enough to vote for me. Although I would rather have won, the people of Clark County have spoken, and I respect that decision.”

Both thanked their campaign staff and supporters.

“I thank the many people who worked to help accomplish this,” Hill said, “because there was no way I could have done this myself.” The incumbent admitted that campaigning was a challenge. “It was difficult to balance my busy schedule as district judge and spending what little free time I had to get out and visit,” he said. “But it was fun.”

Vardaman said campaigning throughout the county was a rewarding experience. “I am grateful to have met so many people on the campaign trail, an opportunity I may not have had otherwise,” he said, adding a congratulations to Hill.
