
The City of Arkadelphia issued 15 building permits with an estimated construction value of $1,065,771 for the month of February 2024. The same number of permits were issued in January ($736,325), bringing the year-to-date construction value in Arkadelphia to more than $1.8 million.
Records were obtained from the city’s Building Department under the Freedom of Information Act and include valuations of work except where omitted from reports. Here’s a rundown of permits issued in February 2024:
Three new homes are being built in the city limits of Arkadelphia. JMRW Properties LLC, a Richard Womack company, will use Womack Construction to build a 2,340-SF single-family house at 308 S. 23rd St. ($90,000). Womack is also erecting a 588-SF single-family dwelling at 1702 Crawford St. ($45,000). RQM LLC has been contracted to build a 3,258-SF single-family home at 218 N. 17th St., owned by Aubrey Hill, for $399,000.
The former US Bank building at 526 Main St. in downtown is undergoing a second-floor renovation that includes relocating doors and wall installations. Percy Malone, a former state senator who owns the namesake pharmaceutical company, is relocating some of his current operations to the old bank branch, which he purchased in 2022 under his real estate LLC. Malone has contracted the Hot Springs-based Rogers Construction, Inc., to tackle the $179,000 commercial alteration.
Also downtown, White Construction, Inc., of Arkadelphia, was contracted to remodel the interior of the Clark County Conservation District at 640 S. 6th St. The project includes the addition of walls, doors and glass dividers for a cost of $174,531.
At communications tower at 1998 Logan St. is undergoing repairs. The owner, SBA Towers V LLC of Boca Raton, Florida, contracted Ericsson Inc. of Plano, Texas, to swap out antennas and replace with new ones; swap out RRU’s; add new ray cap; and remove and replace lines (don’t ask us what any of that entails). The $25,000 job included the Illinois-based Fullerton as architect and a Daniel W. Smith as engineer.
A roofing job at Turner, Rodgers, Manning & Plyler’s accounting firm at 305 Professional Park Dr. cost $21,000. H&B Roofing and Construction, of Arkadelphia, was hired for the job.
Ouachita Valley Meats filed for a pair of permits: one to build brick columns for a double-faced sign, and another to install the 5’x8’ signage at Cindy and Teddy Huneycutt’s 2859 Walnut St. meat market. Combined, the projects cost $4,250.
