Severe weather potential Feb. 27-28

The National Weather Service in Little Rock says it’s keeping a close eye on a new storm system that is forecast to affect the region toward the middle of next week.

The system is expected to move in sometime late Tuesday into Wednesday, Feb. 27-28. The Storm Prediction Center has highlighted much of the state for the potential of severe storms. Some strong to severe thunderstorms may be possible. There remains quite a bit of uncertainty regarding the exact timing and potential threats this far out, the NWS said.

In the meantime, Arkansans can enjoy pleasant weather this weekend, with highs in the mid-70s and lows in the upper 40s to low 50s. The high Monday in Arkadelphia is expected to reach 77˚F.

Breezy conditions and low humidity, however, have elevated the threat of wildfire and grass fire for Friday.
