Gayla Loy

Gayla Lee Loy, age 62, of Bismarck, passed from this life on Wednesday, February 21, 2024, at Twin Rivers Health and Rehabilitation Center in Arkadelphia surrounded by her family.  She was born May 4, 1961, in Prescott, the daughter of Bob and Sally Walker.  

Gayla was a 1980 graduate of Gurdon High School and she attended National Park Community College.  She was a retired bus driver for Gurdon Public Schools.  Gayla enjoyed spending time with her grandkids, going to swim at Albert Pike, quilting and watching “Days of Our Lives”.  She was met at Heaven’s gate by her father, Bob Walker, one son, Dillon Loy, grandparents and numerous aunts and uncles who helped raise her.

Gayla took pride in being a strong-willed single mother to three until she met Mike and they completed the family with their youngest child.  When her children were young, Gayla did all kinds of jobs to make ends meet ranging from CNA work, grocery store work, working with Mike in his photography ventures as his “Easter Bunny, to finally driving a school bus for Gurdon Public Schools.  The past twenty years have been filled with her being a very loved “Mimi” to her nine grandchildren.

Gayla is survived by her mother, Sally Walker of Gurdon, her husband, Mike Loy of Bismarck, one son, Cody Quillin (Tiffany) of Bismarck, two daughters, Cassie Cagle (Chris) of Gurdon and Kayla Stockton (Clint) of Prescott, daughter in law, Hannah Loy of Little Rock, one sister, Pam Wilson (Johnny) of Gurdon, three brothers, Jimmy Walker, Michael Walker and Bobby Walker (Kristyn) all of Gurdon, nine grandchildren, Hayden Quillin, Jason Stockton, Sarah Cagle, Jacob Cagle, Meghan Cagle, Zoey Quillin, Aria Quillin, Gabriel Quillin and Noah Loy.  

A memorial service will be held at 10:00 AM Tuesday, February 27, 2024, at Welch Funeral Home with Bro. Donnie Deaton officiating.

The family would like to extend thanks to Twin Rivers and Arkansas Hospice for their assistance during her transition.
