Sparkman resident Domingo Olvera Vega recently won a $50,000 lottery prize by playing the $1,000,000 VIP Club instant game. He claimed his prize at the Arkansas Scholarship Lottery Claim Center on Jan. 22.
During his lunch break last Friday, Vega purchased the winning ticket at Sparky Mart on 504 W. Main St. in Sparkman.
A daily lottery player, Vega has played a range of instant games and enjoys Powerball® and Mega Millions® when there are high jackpots. This time, Vega purchased a single $1,000,000 VIP Club instant game ticket for $20.
He decided to scratch his ticket before returning home and, stopping at the third row, saw that he had won $50,000.
“My goodness—is that right?” Vega thought.
Upon arriving home, Vega scratched off the rest of his ticket, hoping there would be a higher reward. While this was not the case, his wife and children were still extremely excited about the win.
“My wife was so happy too—even if sometimes she tells me not to play,” the winner laughed.
Vega has previously won $500. While this $50,000 prize is his biggest yet, he still celebrates those earlier wins.
“I’ve got really good luck,” he said.
Vega plans to save his prize money for his children and hopes to buy a home someday. He also intends to keep playing lottery games.
“I’ll hit the million one day,” he grins.
Three $1 million top prizes remain for the $1,000,000 VIP Club instant game.
