
Clark County’s unemployment rate (not seasonally adjusted) is at 4.3% for November 2023, according to a preliminary county-by-county report released by the Arkansas Division of Workforce Services.
According to the report, Clark County had a labor force of 8,675 persons with 8,303 employed and 372 unemployed in November. This compares to August’s labor force — the last time we reported these figures — of 8,581 with 8,142 employed and 439 unemployed. The unemployment rate in Clark County is down eight-tenths of a percentage point from 5.1% in August.
Clark County had the second-highest unemployment rate in the six-county area surveyed.
Statewide, Arkansas’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was at 3.3% in November, while the national jobless rate was at 3.7%.
Of the six neighboring Southwest Arkansas counties surveyed, half reported an increaseand half reported a decrease in jobless rates from August to November. Counties are listed with their county seats in parentheses: i.e., Clark County (Arkadelphia):
The unemployment rate for Dallas County (Fordyce) is at 3.8% for November, up from 3.7% in August. Dallas County reports a labor force of 2,660, an increase of 19 persons since August.
The unemployment rate for Hot Spring County (Malvern) is at 3.3% for November, down from 3.6% in August. Hot Spring County reports a labor force of 13,704, a decrease of 155 persons.
The unemployment rate for Montgomery County (Mt. Ida) is at 4.8% for November, up from 4.5% in August. Montgomery County reports a labor force of 2,768, a decrease of 211 persons.
The unemployment rate for Nevada County (Prescott) is at 3.4% for November, down from 4% in August. Nevada County reports a labor force of 3,403, an increase of 91 persons.
The unemployment rate for Ouachita County (Camden) is at 3.8% for November, up slightly from 3.7% in August. Ouachita County reports a labor force of 9,607 persons, an increase of 20 persons.
The unemployment rate for Pike County (Murfreesboro) is at 3.3% for November, down slightly from 3.4% in August. Pike County reports a labor force of 3,970 persons, a decrease of 213 persons.
