Gurdon man arrested for drug charges after pulling gun on murder suspect’s brother

A firearm reportedly stolen in a burglary was recovered during the arrest of a Gurdon man accused of previously brandishing a weapon at the brother of his enemy.

Keishawn Giles, of Gurdon, faces felony charges in Clark County after police responded to a report of a gun being pulled on a resident.

Giles, 26, was arrested during a traffic stop in which police found drugs and a stolen firearm.

According to an affidavit filed this week by Group 6 Narcotics Agent Brent Whitworth, the Gurdon Marshall’s Office was dispatched on Dec. 8 to South 3rd Street, Gurdon, after a caller advised police that Giles had pulled a gun on an individual in the area. A Gurdon marshal and a Group 6 agent both arrived at the area and conducted a traffic stop on Giles, who was arrested for a felony warrant from an unrelated incident, according to the affidavit.

The unrelated warrant stems from a previous incident that took place outside an Arkadelphia gas station, where it is alleged that Giles pulled a gun on Chandler Langstaff, the brother of Chase Browning-Langstaff, who is named as a suspect in a December 2022 shooting in Arkadelphia that left two people — Quartez “Dada” Burton, 24, and Ayden Hendrix, 16 — dead.

Law enforcement declined to name the victim Giles allegedly brandished a weapon at during the Dec. 8 incident. A search of Giles’s vehicle produced a Glock 34 9mm handgun, reportedly chambered with one round and loaded with 28 additional rounds in the magazine. Giles reportedly admitted purchasing the stolen firearm from “the white boy Dylan,” according to the affidavit.

Authorities would later determine that the gun they found in Giles’s vehicle was evidence in yet another unrelated investigation by the Clark County Sheriff’s Office. Sheriff Jason Watson told arkadelphian.com that the “white boy” Giles was referring to was Dylan Jester, who is wanted in connection with a residential burglary that happened in the Whelen Springs area.

In Giles’s vehicle, officers found a pistol case containing 1.4 grams of methamphetamine stored in plastic bags. They also located a soda can designed for concealing paraphernalia; it contained several small plastic bags, but no drugs.

Giles was transported to the Clark County Detention Center. 9E Prosecuting Attorney Dan Turner filed formal charges against Giles of simultaneous possession of drugs and firearms, possession of methamphetamine and theft by receiving. He remains in custody as of Dec. 27, with bond set at $80,000.
