Arkadelphia’s First Baptist Church will offer a special one-day session of the grief support ministry, GriefShare, from 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 14, on “Loss of a Spouse.”
The session, free and open to anyone who has experienced a loss of a spouse, features an information-packed video seminar on common concerns of grieving spouses, including loneliness and anxiety, enduring grief and moving forward. Guided discussion among participants follows the video.
Saturday’s session will be held inside the FBC Education Building, off the church’s south parking lot, in room 112. Register or find more information at www.GriefShare.org. Participants are advised to enter off Eighth Street. Walk-ins are welcome.
Another group session, “Surviving the Holidays,” will be offered to anyone who has had a loss of any kind, on Saturday, Nov. 4, beginning at 10:30 a.m. and ending with a free holiday lunch provided for the participants. First Baptist offered more in-depth, 13-week GriefShare programs, from September-December 2022 and from February-May 2023. Saturday’s focused discussion on the loss of a spouse is a first locally.
GriefShare encourages participants to experience a “journey from mourning to joy.” It’s also based on the idea that grief lingers for months and even years after a loss of a loved one. No topic is off limits.
