Following a 30-minute executive session, the Arkadelphia Board of Directors gave City Manager Gary Brinkley a 3% raise in pay

Brinkley, who has been on the job for several years, will now make $110,407 with the added raise of $3,230. The increase came at the motion of Directors Jason Jones and Reo Cummings.

Mayor Scott Byrd said he would be getting with Brinkley in the coming days to officially go over the board’s evaluation of his performance in the city’s top slot.

The board also heard a presentation regarding special events from Communications Director Emma Brown and Special Events Coordinator Hallie Posey. The pair updated the board on the remaining events the city will sponsor in 2023 as well as the 25 events planned for next year.

To date, 18,000 people have participated in special events held periodically since 2021, Brown said as she gave the board a list of the planned events for 2024.
