Alta Jean Dempsey, age 89, of Gurdon, passed from this life on Tuesday September 26, 2023, at CHI St. Vincents in Hot Springs. She was born on July 14, 1934, in Gurdon, the daughter of the late Jessie and Anna Dodgen Stauffer.
Alta was a member of Red Springs Baptist Church, the Red Springs EHC, and the Clark County Quilters. She enjoyed sewing, embroidery, quilting, and cooking in her free time.
Alta is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Mickey Dempsey, and one son, Michael E. Dempsey.
Survivors are one son, David Dempsey (Tamara) of Gurdon, two daughters, Rhonda Shepherd (Gary) of Arkadelphia and Denise Freeman of Arkadelphia, ten grandchildren and eighteen great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday September 30, 2023, at Third Street Baptist Church in Arkadelphia with Bro. Greg Lathem officiating.
