Bonnie Allen

Bonnie Allen, 82 years old, went home Tuesday morning September 2nd, 2025.  She was born at New DeRoche, AR on June 29th, 1943 to Charlie and Glenner (Thorton) Hughes.  

She was proceeded in death by her parents and her husband of 61 years, Elster Allen.  The youngest of her parent’s 11 children, she loved all of her many nieces and nephews.

She is survived by her two sons and two daughter-in-laws Marty and Gina Baker Allen of Bismarck and Wendell and Teresa Coats Allen of Social Hill.  Bonnie has three grandsons and two granddaughter-in-laws Trevor and Beth Lambert Allen, Thad and Katie Elbe Allen and Sam Allen.  She has eight great-grandchildren, Ericka (Colton) Wright, Kenneth Allen, Alice Allen, Beatrix Allen, Cedar Allen, Cate Allen, Finn Allen and Naomi Allen.  She also has one great-great-grandchild Maverick Allen. 

Bonnie was a long-time member of DeRoche Missionary Baptist Church. While her boys were small, she operated a custom drapery business.  She retired from Henderson State University after working as a secretary in the library, the physical plant, the alumni association and the TRIO program.  Over the years she volunteered with the HSU International Students Association and always enjoyed having them out to her home to cook.    

To Bonnie, her family was her priority.  She was happiest when she was traveling, mowing her yard, sewing or when she was doing something to help someone in need.  Whether you wanted her to help or not!  Her family feels sure she’ll have heaven cleaned up and organized in no time!

Visitation will be held on Thursday, Sept. 4th from 1-2pm at DeRoche Missionary Baptist Church, with the graveside service following at 2pm at DeRoche Cemetery, with Bro. Chris Morrison officiating.
