Wildfire danger high in South Arkansas; more burn bans added

Nearly half of Arkansas’s 75 counties are now under a burn ban.

In the past week, eight Arkansas counties have been placed under burn bans, bringing the total to 35.

In recent days, Clark County’s western neighbor, Pike County, has been placed under a burn ban. Clark County remains free of a burn ban as of Wednesday morning, as do Hot Spring, Garland, Saline and Grant counties in south central Arkansas.

The danger for wildfires is listed as high for all counties in South Arkansas and moderate for the northern half of the state.

County judges issue burn bans.
