A regional auction will be held this month in Arkadelphia, where interested buyers can bid on tax-delinquent properties in four counties.
The auction will start at 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 17, at the Garrison Center, 1045 McKnight Dr., on the campus of Henderson State University.
At the time of this writing there were more than 200 properties up for bid in Clark, Dallas, Ouachita and Nevada counties.
Bidders must register for the auction prior to placing a bid. Registration begins at 9 a.m. at the sale site. There is no fee to register. Auctions will be conducted alphabetically by county. Auction sales are final. Purchases may be paid for with a business or personal check, or a credit or debit card. Cash is not accepted for purchase of tax-delinquent parcels.
Properties that do not sell at auction will appear on the Commissioner of State Land’s post-auction sales list 30 days after the auction date. From there, they can be purchased through an online auction system. An instructional video on the COSL website demonstrates that process for bidders.
Other regional auctions this month will be held in El Dorado (Columbia, Calhoun and Union counties) on Tuesday, Aug. 15, at 10 a.m. in the second-floor courtroom of the Union County Courthouse, 101 N. Washington St.; in Texarkana (Hempstead, Miller, Little River and Lafayette counties) on Tuesday, Aug. 8, at 10 a.m. at the Holiday Inn Convention Center-Ballroom A, 5200 Convention Plaza Dr.; and in Nashville (Montgomery, Pike, Polk, Sevier and Howard counties) on Tuesday, Aug. 22, at 10 a.m. at the Carter Day Training Center, 200 Lake Nichols Dr.
“These new regional auctions will allow bidders to attend the sales for multiple counties without traveling to multiple locations or taking several days off work,” said Tommy Land, Commissioner of State Lands. “This will also allow us to be more fiscally responsible by conducting fewer events.”
Owners seeking to redeem within 30 days before an auction must use certified funds or may redeem with cash in the Land Commission office at 1020 W. 4th St. in Little Rock. Cash is only accepted for redemption, and only for in-person payments at that office.
