Nina Phillips passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 23, 2023, at the age of 92.
Nina is survived by her daughter Tina Phillips (San Francisco) and her grandson Clark Marshall (Little Rock). She is preceded in death by her husband Jess, her daughter Leisa Phillips Marshall, her sister Inez Staley, and her brothers Harold McDaniel, Walter McDaniel and Dale McDaniel.
Nina was born in Texarkana, Arkansas, on March 4, 1931, to Walter and Maydell McDaniel. Nina and Jess married on April 24, 1951, in Texarkana and were fortunate to celebrate their 70th wedding anniversary together. They moved to Arkadelphia in 1956 and spent a very happy life there. Nina was an enthusiastic bridge player and was known for her baking—especially her Christmas fudge. She was active in First Baptist Church and valued the time and friendships with her Sunday School class.
A family graveside service will be held Thursday, July 27, 2023. Donations in her memory can be made to First Baptist Church (Arkadelphia) or to St Jude’s Children Hospital.
