One minor was killed and another injured Saturday evening in a rollover accident involving an all-terrain vehicle.

The deadly crash happened at 5593 Dyer St. in Malvern, Arkansas.

According to an Arkansas State Police fatal crash summary, the passenger was flung from the vehicle when the driver left the roadway and overcorrected. “The vehicle rotated to the left and ran off the road,” the report states, “and the front of the vehicle collided into an embankment.” The vehicle then overturned, ejecting the passenger before the vehicle landed on top of the passenger before it again overturned and came to a rest on its side, according to the report.

The vehicle is described in the report as a 2012 Polaris. The accident happened at 5:38 p.m. Saturday, July 8, 2023, under clear skies and on dry roads, according to Cpl. Christopher Harper, who investigated the accident.

The driver of the ATV was transported with unknown injuries to Baptist Health Medical Center, and the passenger’s body was transported to Welch Funeral Home in Arkadelphia.
