A Murfreesboro man died Wednesday morning in a one-vehicle accident involving an 18-wheeler.
William H. Cox, 76, of Murfreesboro, was traveling eastbound in a 1996 International on U.S. Highway 70 east of Daisy when the vehicle exited the right shoulder and overcorrected, according to a preliminary fatal crash summary filed by Arkansas State Police. The truck crossed both lanes, overturning on its passenger side as it entered the opposite lane facing west. The report states the vehicle struck a resident’s carport.
Cox was transported to UAMS Medical Center in Little Rock, where he was pronounced deceased.
The accident happened at 10:06 a.m. Wednesday, May 24, 2023, under clear skies and on dry roads, according to Sgt. Ryne Shelton who investigated the Pike County accident.
