Everett Eugene Currey, age 86, of Gurdon passed from this life on Monday March 27, 2023, at the Springs at Hillcrest nursing home in Prescott. He was born on February 13, 1937, in Gurdon the son of the late Paul and Maggie Sue Smith Currey.

Everett was a Gurdon High School graduate and attended Henderson State University. He served in the United States Navy and worked in the logging industry for many years. Everett loved being outside, eating good food, watching television, fixing up stuff that was broken, and being with family especially during the holidays.

He is preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Glen, William, and Jimmy Currey, and two sisters, Barbara Dickerson, and Peggy Hathcoat.

Everett is survived by his wife of sixty-five years Patsy Arnold Currey, one son, Dusty Currey (Sandra), two daughters, Angela Stricklin (Mickey) and Jackie Swayze (Joe) all of Gurdon, eleven grandchildren, Krista Williams (Kade), Kenzie Harper, Kyle Currey, Cameron Coston, Justin Swayze (Jordon), Jodie Ellis (Derek), Valerie Smith (Steve), and five great grandchildren, Navy Williams, Macon Ellis, Triton Swayze, Zane Baker, and Knox Smith.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Thursday, March 30, 2023 at Welch Funeral Home with Bro. Andrew Godwin officiating.

Visitation is from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Wednesday at the funeral home.

Interment will be in Decipher Cemetery.

Pallbearers are Mickey Stricklin, Kade Williams, Justin Swayze, Derek Ellis, Kyle Currey, and Joe Swayze.
