An Arkadelphia woman has been charged after she allegedly wielded a pair of knives at a child’s birthday party.
Terrvonica Giles, 26, faces charges of aggravated assault and terroristic threatening in a Jan. 21, 2023, incident at a Richardson Street residence.
According to court documents released this week, Giles became intoxicated, belligerent and combative while celebrating a child’s birthday at the 1300 block of Richardson Street. At some point during the party Giles was told to leave, and a relative drove her back home to another Arkadelphia address.
It was around 9 p.m. that a 911 call summoned officers to the Richardson Street address. The affidavit indicates that Giles would later tell police she phoned 911 from her own cell phone to report that her phone was still at the birthday party.
Police responded to the Richardson Street address following that 911 call. While officers were on scene inquiring why the 911 call was made, Giles arrived, walking past officers and witnesses and carrying a knife into the residence.
Officers followed, observing Giles inside “wielding two knives above her head and threatening to kill the individuals in the residence,” the affidavit states. Giles also ignored Cpl. Kenny Taylor’s “threats of force” in an apparent standoff before Taylor and a witness “physically removed the knives from Giles’ hand and restrained her,” according to the affidavit.
Following her arrest, Giles was court-ordered to stay away from three people who were at the party.
If convicted, Giles could face 6-10 years in prison for each charge. She was appointed Clinton DeWitt of the public defender’s office to represent her in the case.

Why was there alcohol at a CHILD’S birthday party to begin with!? That should be illegal, in my opinion.
