Alexander woman wins $1 million lottery prize

By ARKANSAS SCHOLARSHIP LOTTERY

An Alexander woman says she is still trying to process the reality of winning $1 million on an Arkansas Scholarship Lottery (ASL) scratch-off ticket. The winner, who elected to remain anonymous, claimed her prize yesterday at the ASL Claim Center in Little Rock.

The Arkansan won the last top prize from the $20 $1,000,000 Riches scratch-off ticket. She purchased the winning ticket from Vimy Food Mart, 12024 Vimy Ridge Road in Alexander.

Retailers receive a 1 percent commission from the sale of winning lottery products. Vimy Food Mart will receive a $10,000 commission check for selling the winning ticket.

“I’m rich,” was the player’s first thought when she realized she had a winning ticket. “I first told my mother about the win.”

The winner said she plays the lottery regularly. She is the 94th person that has won a lottery prize worth $1 million or more in Arkansas since 2009. With her winnings, she plans to pay bills and purchase a house.

Saturday night’s Powerball® jackpot has increased to $78 million, and the LOTTO jackpot – that is still waiting on its first jackpot winner – has climbed to $1.889 million.
