FORT SMITH — The No. 11 Henderson State men’s golf team gets its first win of the new year, placing first at the Hardscrabble Invitational with a 27-over 867. Miller Harris claimed the top spot for individual performances with a 2-under 208 over 54 holes.
The Reddies finished one stroke better than second-place No. 17 Midwestern State and eight ahead of third-place Central Oklahoma.
Harris was the only player in a 45-player field to finish under par across the three rounds. The Carthage, Texas native added two more birdies today to bring his total to 13 and ended the day 3-over 73 in the third round.
The four-bag Nathan Cossement had the second-best score on the day, carding a 4-over 74 and tallied four birdies on the day, three coming on the front nine. The Wavre, Belgium native finished eleventh in the tournament with a 10-over 220. Newcomer Ethan Wilkins shot 8-over in the third round to place eighth in the player leaderboard with an 8-over 218.
Alex Hadden concluded the event tied in 12th place with an 11-over 221 after shooting 9-over 79 in the third round. Five-bag Cooper Williams carded a 13-over par on the second day and finished the tournament 25-over 235.
Brady Perkins played individually and finished the Hardscrabble Invitational in 28th place, shooting 22-over 232 across three rounds after recording a 12-over 82 on the final 18 holes.
No. 11 Henderson State returns to action on Monday, Mar. 13, at the Oak Tree Invitational in Edmond, Oklahoma, hosted by No. 4 Oklahoma Christian.
