Florida trucker dies in I-30 construction zone collision

A Tampa, Florida, man was killed Wednesday in a single-vehicle accident on Interstate 30.

Mario Perez-Perez, 44, of Tampa, died in the Hot Spring County collision.

According to an Arkansas State Police fatal crash summary, he was traveling eastbound in a Kenworth tractor-trailer around mile marker 102 when traffic ahead of him came to a stop due to ongoing construction several miles ahead.

The report states that Perez-Perez failed to adequately slow down, and he steered left into a wooded median where he collided with the tree line.

His body was taken to the Hot Spring County Coroner’s Office.

The accident happened at 12:10 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 22, 2023, under cloudy skies and wet road conditions according to Trooper Kevin Hrabal, who investigated the accident.
