Jerry Johnson Jr.

Jerry Johnson, Jr., fondly known as June Boy or JJ, was born to Josephine and Jerry Johnson, Sr., on August 15, 1955, in Prescott AR. After graduating high school, Jerry began his journey through adulthood by enlisting in the U.S. Army. He then met and married Dorothy Brown-Johnson and to this union 4 children were born. Many years later, he met and married Shirley Robinson-Johnson. Time dwindled them apart over the years but God brought them back together for companionship when Jerry and Dorothy met again and rekindled their relationship. They were friends until his dying day. 

At an early age, Jerry joined St. Clair Baptist Church in Okolona, AR where he accepted Christ as his personal Lord and Savior. He was a member of the choir. Jerry was no stranger to hard work. He was a committed worker at Kurt Bean Lumber company for 10 years in Glenwood, AR and Acme Brick company for 20 years until his health began to fail. Jerry Johnson Jr., age 67, of Hot Springs Arkansas, passed away on Friday, February 10, 2023, at National Park Medical Center in Hot Springs AR. He fought his battle against his illness for 6 long years. Despite spending much of that time in and out of the hospital, Jerry never lost his sense of humor. Throughout his turmoil of sickness, he continued to crack jokes with his children, and even pulled some light-hearted pranks on the nurses. He had a great ability to make others smile and his sense of humor will be missed.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter, a brother Jewell Lee Johnson, his grandparents, Alford and Maggie Golden, grandson, Andrew stone, a niece and a nephew.

He leaves to cherish his memory three children, Nathaniel (Checoata) Johnson of Louann Ar, Tekisha (Darnell) Stone of Hot Springs AR, and Trevil Johnson of Springdale AR., Bonus daughter, Shunda Glover, two sisters Dorothy Parrish of Lacey Washington, and Mae Atkins of Camden AR., 3 step-children, Michele (Tom) Brock, Marty Robinson both of Hot Springs AR and Troy Robinson of Pine Bluff AR., six Grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Funeral services are under the direction of Mitchell Funeral Home of Arkadelphia, AR. Visitation was February 17 at the funeral home. Funeral services were Saturday, February 18 at St. Clair Baptist Church in Okolona, AR. Burial was in St. Clair Cemetery in Okolona.
