The following incidents were gathered from reports filed at the Arkadelphia Police Department and Clark County Sheriff’s Office. Names of arrested individuals were collected at the Clark County Detention Center on Crittenden Street in Arkadelphia. They are presumed innocent until found guilty in a court of law. The Arkadelphian does not withhold names from the arrest log, so don’t even think about asking.

Sunday, Feb. 5
8:30 a.m.
A Fairfield Inn & Suites employee reported housekeeping staff had found a firearm in a room after a customer checked out. The responding officer secured the gun, and contact was made with the owner who retrieved the gun that afternoon.

Officers worked a disorderly conduct incident involving a juvenile.

Friday, Feb. 3
1:33 p.m.
Officers investigated a report of two stolen portable toilets located behind a Walnut Street business when a man who had previously reported the theft in Garland County alerted local police to his finding. After determining the serial numbers matched, the complainant was allowed to load his toilet and leave. The investigating officer tried contacting the owner of the other toilet, but his attempt was clogged as the call went to a voice mailbox that had not been set up. The report did not indicate whether officers had plans to flush the suspected toilet thief from his hideout.

4:36 p.m.
Officers detained a shoplifter at Walmart who drove outside the store on a motorized cart without paying for items placed on its floorboard.

8:29 p.m.
After responding to a domestic disturbance that had turned physical, officers arrested a man for third-degree domestic battery at an apartment at the 1000 block of Main Street.

Friday, Feb. 3
9 p.m.
A deputy detained a California couple near the rice fields on Highway 7 after determining the vehicle they were traveling in had been reported stolen out of Long Beach. The couple were adamant that they had purchased the vehicle from a towing company. The vehicle was towed from the scene and the couple were released.

Arrests in Clark County

Friday, Feb. 3
James Walker, 65, was arrested by Arkadelphia police for third-degree domestic battery.

Saturday, Feb. 4
William Little, 36, was arrested by Arkansas State Police for DWI, reckless driving and refusal to submit.

Otis Bunnell, 20, was arrested by Gurdon police for driving with a suspended license, possession of marijuana, possession of an instrument of crime and no insurance.
