The Arkadelphia Fire Department on Wednesday afternoon responded to a fire on Hartford Drive. At about 4 p.m. Wednesday, March 23, firefighters were summoned to a vacant brick home after a caller on the 1700 block of Walnut Street phoned 911 to report seeing smoke coming from the residence.
Also dispatched to the scene were firemen from the Caddo Valley and DeGray fire departments.
No word yet on how the fire started, but officials at the scene said there was no one inside when firefighters made entry.
AFD Capt. Andy Neal told The Arkadelphian the fire department forced entry through the front door and found the blaze was contained to one room. “We got it knocked out pretty quick,” he said, confirming it was indeed a vacant residence. Neal said the cause of the blaze is under investigation.
