Tuesday night was business as usual for the Arkadelphia Lady Badgers (11-5), who beat the Ashdown Lady Panthers (2-12) by a score of 69-30 in a game that was already over by the first quarter. After a 24-point explosion by the Lady Badgers to start the game, Ashdown could not keep up with the electric offense led by senior guard Liyah Smith.
Smith had another 20-point outing in the contest, finishing with 21 on three makes from behind the arc, while her backcourt running mate, senior Amya Snowden, finished the game with eight, and senior forward Makayla Gentry rounded out the top scorers for Arkadelphia, tacking up 10 points.
The Lady Badgers allowed just eight first-quarter points in the game, with Smith actually outscoring the Lady Panthers on her own in the period.
Arkadelphia will take this win into Nashville as they take on the Lady Scrappers in what is shaping up to be a test of mettle for the Lady Badgers. Nashville is 15-3 on the season, with all losses coming in non-conference play against 6A schools Conway, North Little Rock, and Greenwood. Arkadelphia hopes to keep their four-game winning streak alive, even if it means going through a perennial powerhouse in the Lady Scrappers.
