Peggy Ann (Gentle) Palmere, age 83, of Arkadelphia, passed from this life on Saturday, December 31, 2022, at her home.

She was born December 30, 1939, in Okolona, the daughter of the late William Wesley and Evia Barrong Gentle. Peggy was a graduate of Gurdon High School. She was a member of New Life Church of Arkadelphia. Peggy worked for many years as a seamstress at Hollywood Vassarette and then 20 years as a “Greeter” at Wal-Mart. She enjoyed cooking and gardening in her free time. 

Peggy was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Betty Taylor and Pat Overton; two brothers, Charlie Gentle and James W. “Bill” Gentle; and one grandson, Timothy “Tim” Thomason.

Survivors are her husband, Joe Palmere of Arkadelphia; one son, Mike Thomason (Donna) of Bauxite; one daughter, Tammy Frazier Beeler (Joseph) of Bismarck; stepchildren, Joseph Palmere (Therese) of Flippin, Suzanne Kosten (Ed) of Franklin Park, Ill., Mary Mauch (Tony) of Spring Grove, Ill., and Ann Crowe (Daniel) of Villa Park, Ill.; one sister, Wanda Welch (Patrick) of Hollywood; two sisters-in-law, Wilma Gentle of Arkadelphia and Cheryl Gentle of of Atlanta; four grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; 11 step-grandchildren; six step-great-grandchildren; and one step-great-great-grandchild; several nieces and nephews; and her loyal and trusted Shetland Sheepdog, “Buddy”.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, January 5, at Welch Funeral Home with Rev. Dwight Craig and Rev. Martin Jones officiating. Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday at Welch Funeral Home. Interment will be in Center Ridge Cemetery at Gurdon.

Pallbearers are Harley Frazier, Dawson Frazier, Aaron Thomason, Jaxson Frazier, Ricky Frazier Jr. and Chris Frazier.
